SilverSurfer, ooi (out of interest) .. what good citizen of any country could argue against this

Health care in Australia is provided by both private and government institutions. The federal Minister for Health, currently Sussan Ley, administers
national health policy, and state and territory governments administer elements of health care within their jurisdictions, such as the operation of hospitals.

Medicare, administered by the federal government, is the publicly funded universal health care system in Australia which was instituted in 1984. It coexists with a private health system. Medicare is funded partly by a 2% Medicare levy (with exceptions for low-income earners), with the balance being provided by government from general revenue. An additional levy of 1% is imposed on high-income earners without private health insurance. As well as Medicare, there is a separate Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme also funded by the federal government which considerably subsidises a range of prescription medications. .. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_Australia

except on exceedingly ideological or exceedingly selfish grounds?

Seriously.

And still Australia is nowhere ranked the top in the world, as a large and profitable private insurance industry exits in conjunction
with the universal care .. bottom line .. every citizen is covered and most have reasonably easy access to doctors at no cost.

Still every system has weaknesses.

You may be surprised at how much i pay for my own individual private insurance, as a contribution to help the universal system survive .. i don't
have to have private and if seriously ill would still be treated at relatively little cost if i didn't have private insurance .. to help the system work.

How much would a single 74yr old pay per year in your area, ooi.

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
