It would be a very interesting situation if GE were to own say 60% of Arcam, while Arcam remained a separately listed public company. Would Arcam's Board be required to make decisions in the best interest of all shareholders or would they be allowed to make decisions that were in the best interest of the majority (i.e., GE).
One aspect of this discussion that I have not heard much about is the degree to which the big players (in this case aerospace manufacturers) have a "gentlemen's" agreement to be willing to share access at some level to certain technologies. I recall reading something about this somewhere in the past.
I would have to believe that if it was understood by the other players that it was GE's intention to block them out from EBM technology, then there would be no way that the other manufacturers (not to mention the EU) would not already be screamin to block this acquisition...or to make a counter offer .
