edited somewhere) Susie: I warrant that is changing, due to the increased interest in the stock market and the increase of members here. The more members, the more expensive ads can be sold. If paid subscribers... whoops! I mean, premium members (since most or many are not paid) don't see ads, that lowers what iHub can reap from advertising. In fact, they will get MORE ad money because of the free members in that case.

Reullit: Ah, so Churak has also said that it would be better for iHub membership if free membership quantities of posts were unlimited. I see. lol

I have nothing against grandfathered memberships, by the way. I was grandfathered in on SI, had comp memberships on almost every service that charged, in the older days. All services give accounts away, for many reasons. But the point here, as long as there ARE free memberships to let everyone fully participate in terms of content. Unlimited quantity for all, makes sense to me. There are enough great premium features that those who want those, and feel the price is fair, still can pay for them.

Old_Drummerman: those are good points. We don't want people riddling the threads with dozens of tripe posts they way they do in the Q&A thread. There's a TOS about that, by the way -- if the quantity of posts in a thread becomes disruptive, the poster can be TOSsed. So, that could be controlled, I think.

Nice to see you again, btw.

Linda
