That he did. As I stated he choose to run as a Democrat and called himself a Democratic socialist. He actually went to great lengths to explain that in a speech IF I RECALL. I could be wrong.

I think VT is one of the few states where he could run as an independent and win as he has. On the other hand I think the voters in VT knew they were electing an Independent with Democrat leanings otherwise he probably would not have gotten elected in the first place as senator. God forbid he caucused with the republicans in the senate.

To run for president he really had no choice with our 2 party system so entrenched here. To have any chance of winning the national election he had to come out as a Democrat.

I did support him in the primaries, I think the DNC screwed him, I don't care for the super delegates but I understand the need for them when it comes to a national election.
