State inspectors visited I**N Laboratories and SGBY Eugene lab, Oregon Analytical Services.

The owners of the two labs are waiting for accreditation from the state.

Along with state accreditation, marijuana labs in Eugene and elsewhere in Oregon must pass an OLCC inspection focused on security and also have proper land use approval from local government.

Lab executives say the rigors of the inspections and other hurdles are worth it for a chance to be part of the burgeoning Oregon recreational marijuana industry.

The labs charge growers for the tests, and the bigger the annual pot harvest, the greater the lab fees. The state’s Oct. 1 deadline for the commencement of mandatory testing coincides with marijuana harvest time, so the labs expect a rush of growers with pot ready for testing.

“We are anticipating getting slammed,” said Lori Glauser, owner of Oregon Analytical Services on Pearl Street south of downtown Eugene.
