(NASDAQ:MYL) over the high price of EpiPen (epinephrine injection, USP) Auto-Injector worked.The company announces a more generous patient assistance program to reduce out-of-pocket costs as much as 50% off the list price via a savings card that will cover up to $300 of the cost of the EpiPen 2-Pak. In addition, Mylan is doubling the eligibility for its patient assistance program to 400% of the federal poverty level which will eliminate out-of-pocket costs for the uninsured and under-insured. A family of four with an annual income of up to $97,200, for example, will pay nothing for their EpiPen Auto-Injector.Mylan will continue its EpiPen4Schools program, which was launched in August 2012. It has provided more than 700K free EpiPen Auto-Injectors and educational resources to more than 65K schools across the country.To further reduce patient costs, the company is opening a pathway whereby patients can order EpiPen directly from the company. All programs apply to EpiPen Jr as well.CEO Heather Bresch says, "We have been a long-term committed partner to the allergy community and are taking immediate action to help insure that everyone who needs EpiPen Auto-Injector gets one.
