Nothing indicates that small startups are better investments than more mature growth stocks. Yes, it would be nice have bought Starbux or even GAIN early on, but you also expose yourself to scams.

Furthermore such startups rarely pay dividends which can amount to about half of a stock's payoff over decades. Understand that much of IHUB's Pennyland lore is simply wrong. Some of the very best stocks of the past 50 year were huge 50 years ago. For example, EXXON or some of the cigarette stocks

I spend a fair amount of time reading academic studies about investing. I'd buy early stage high risk stocks if I thought they were worthwhile, but they pay off way too rarely.

As for GAIN, I'd go with a much larger and more efficient BDC. GAIN only has a market cap of $300 million.
