anyway I'm sitting tight on my FGEN, thinking about selling calls and using that money to buy puts as a way of hedging movements in the next couple weeks, but if anyone else has thoughts or ideas i am all ears

Who the hell knows??? In retrospect it will be a lot easier to see what should have been done and when, as usual. With no immediate catalysts there could be games for awhile.

I have not built as large a position as I might in part due to the liquidity/pricing of FGEN options (I sometime use partial hedges in conjunction with position trading for that type of position.)

The flip of your idea is interesting (if you are bullish longer term) - sell out of the money puts to help finance some calls - except that the calendar only goes to December and I'd rather have more time for calls to work here. So I don't expect to do that.
