thanks a lot, Dream - kudos back to you, and all folks on this board. there is consistently outstanding work done here.
RVUE is pretty murky still, but judging from what we do know, it's got the potential to be a major runner, and a long term trade, at that.
ATV's filings show a company that did well while roche was at the helm a few years ago. he took a hiatus, and came back only recently.
while i don't know all the details, PRC regulations are now restricting direct TV sales of products in china, specifically infomercials, and this was acorn's core biz.
ATV's is extremely diversified, with a range of subsidiaries that manufacture goods. acorn's current plan is to ramp up product sales, and i'm thinking RVUE, which operates a "network of networks" in digital "out of home" advertising, could be a key part of acorn's upcoming growth.
wild guess.
i also see some synergies with roche's "oak lawn marketing" in japan, now 51% owned by docomo. it's mind-boggling to think DCM paid $308M for OLM in 2009.
incidentally, OLM was started by chicagoan, roche, back in 1999. mark pacchini is likely a long-time friend of his, as they are both from chicago... and my understanding is roche preceded pacchini, as a BoD member, during the post 2013 phase of RVUE's growth.
who really knows what's in store for us, but instead of ATV buying RVUE, or DCM doing a deal for them, maybe the plan is just to load up a bunch of the RVUE equity, and grow it into the next big-board listed roche endeavor. that'd be fine with me.
