BullNBear52 -- to note just for the record something Cohen (evidently quite deliberately/conveniently) failed to note: Obama, properly in my and others' opinions, felt that existing AUMF authority did not cover getting involved militarily against the Assad regime in Syria, and accordingly sought authority from Congress for such action -- and Congress, of course, refused to even take a vote on that request (the very considerable amount we've done since then there and elsewhere in re ISIS falling within the existing AUMF authority, where we still have not yet acted militarily directly against the Assad regime)
