INTC having problems with 865 chipset rollout IMO. They are pushing 865 chipset solution as agressively as RDRAM rollout with P4. I base my opinion on 3 facts
$10 discount per motherboard on selected units is not selling out inventory at distributors shelves
DDR400 DRAM now $72, used only in Intel 865 based solution, now cheaper then DDR333 or DDR266 $74 used in rest of Intel desktop lineup. I have rarely seen a higher speed grade offered for lesser price.
Also, Intel increased the quantity of discounted Seagate SATA hard drives, approx $40 cash discount per drive, per reseller from 20 to 100.
