Is this a reliable stock? Care for any thoughts before I buy in?

You will get many different opinions on this matter. In my view, there are a large number of pieces that have to come into play in order to create a groundbreaking technology and move it from the lab into commercial production. KBLB has assembled nearly all of these pieces but still has to produce commercial quantities of its silks. Sericulture (raising silkworms for silk) requires a lot of mulberry leaves and a lot of man-hours to turn the silk cocoons into thread.

KBLB has been working with Vietnam to create a subsidiary factory for silk production but has run into a snag because their silkworms are genetically modified. The government has requested additional information and this represents a bureaucratic holdup. KBLB is also looking into US production, likely at a small scale compared to overseas operations.

If/When KBLB succeeds in producing and selling their silk, the stock will rise significantly. If they don't succeed, the company will fail and the stock will be worthless. That is the gamble you are taking, but it happens with pretty much any stock. I had a relative who owned hundreds of thousands in GM stock. Oops! The company went bankrupt and he lost his entire investment.

I personally continue to buy KBLB stock even though I expect the price to sag a bit more before we have the production breakthrough that everyone is hoping for. But you need to carefully assess your situation. Are the risks worth the rewards? You might want to look at the company's website, kraiglabs.com, and examine their recent reports. These contain a lot of detail about current operations as well as forward looking statements.
