I say Bullshit too.

When it does leak,

Is it visible on the ground?

IOW, do you ever see it?

Water pumps will sometimes leak intermittantly.

I don't think it could be the intake manifold and leak intermittantly.

Where is this "quick disconnect" located?

Have you noticed any signs of leakage around it?

Can it be replaced with pipe thread type fittings?

$1100 is ridiculous.

I would let it leak until it can be found easily.

But I would lean towards thinking it is the water pump.
