Taking a little break from my cleaning frenzy... I am nuts. It is sunny, dry, and a mere 82 or 83 degrees. So what am I doing? Making up for lost time in the cleaning department. Oh well. The sun hurts my skin at this point in life. I can't go out on the deck until the afternoon shadow covers it anyway.
Back to the bear hunt. I agree with you about responsible hunters but we are infested with urban yahoos not good country cats. Plus which, the hunt "territory" is defined as the area north of Rt. 80 and west of 287... Sussex County, North Warren and North Morris. This is a pretty darn tiny area to allow 10,000 people to hunt for one week. Parts of the designated hunting area are communities where hunting would be prohibited anyway. Many of the bears that make the news show up in towns south of these boundaries. The hunt does not even begin to address their problem.
I do take comfort in your assurances that wounded bears are not going to be the threat that is currently being perceived.
So much to think about. So hard to take a stand or form a fixed opinion.
