I don't think I'd go with cellular on a full time basis... lack of privacy. I've intercepted too many calls made with cells or wireless. I'm into extension cords at home.

The story about your uncle broke my heart... cruel. Even if those who passed him were afraid that he might be pulling a fast one, they could have called the police to go assist him. I've done that when I wasn't sure. As a teenager, I passed a man who appeared to be in trouble. He may have been drunk. He was falling down as he tried to walk by the road. My sister wouldn't let me stop because she was afraid he might be faking it. I drove to the nearest pay phone and called the police. I went back to make sure someone came to help him. Got there as the cop car was pulling up.

To me it is unconscionable to just ignore someone in trouble, especially a man on crutches.

I'm glad your uncle bought himself a cell phone.
