Dallas tops new ranking of top residential investment markets (4/13/16)
Two Texas cities are at the top of a new ranking of residential property investment markets.
The Dallas area and San Antonio head the list of best real estate investment markets done by Dallas-based HomeVestors of America Inc.
HomeVestors is one of the country’s largest residential real estate investment firms.
“Over the last year, we have seen an increase in population and job growth,” said David Hicks, HomeVestors co-president. “However, housing prices are increasing significantly faster than incomes.”
Other markets that scored highly on HomeVestor’s first-quarter report card included Orlando, Fla.; Atlanta; and Grand Rapids, Mich.
“Good job growth is driving prices higher in our markets, mainly in business services but also tourism (Orlando, San Antonio), finance (Charlotte, Dallas) and manufacturing (Grand Rapids),” said Ingo Winzer, president and founder of Local Market Monitor, which provided the research.
The quarterly report identifies markets that will be good for home rentals and where residential prices are likely to rise faster over the next few years.
North Texas home prices have risen over 30 percent since the worst of the recession and are at record levels.
