That is my major concern as well.
One of Dr. O's recent presentations, if you break it down to an outline, point by point covered objections and concerns presented by opponents and worriers; this was one of the concerns addressed and he seems to think it is not a problem. A bit reassuring, but then again as you note, you have to look at the morning-after pill, etc., to see the recent behaviorial history of FDA. Anyone in authority there willing to break party rank just up and summarily leaves, gets fired or transfers; that has to have a chilling effect all down the line.
