These issues are very difficult to deal with, whether in Bosnia or Syria or wherever. It is easy to judge/second guess by the media and others... but the fact is that those on the ground that are charged with performing these duties are doing their best.

My memories of the Bosnian campaign are that the air war that Clinton ordered was successful in forcing Serbia to back off. My nephew Michael served in the Bosnian peacekeeping operation as a driver/bodyguard for a US Army Bn Colonel and he tells of uncovering, finding, confiscating, and destroying a large cache of Serbian partisan weapons hidden in a large, underground cave and he is very proud of that. He felt like they saved hundreds, if not thousands of lives.

The Colonel evidently had a large pair, as they walked into the cave and demanded the Serbs leave... armed only with the Colonel's sidearm and Michael and another bodyguard with M4s... vs two dozen Serbs. Michael said he was scared shitless.
