conix -- Chavez was a corrupt chump, then Maduro far worse -- hardly any favorites of ours; not just the corruption but even more cuz we're not into authoritarians regardless of (attemptedly) legitimating ideology -- and at least note things there were able to change course via an election

before Chavez, Venezuela had quite the history of such governance under hard-right types/ideology -- hopefully this new government will not revert to anything like that and move things forward into a more genuinely democratic and rule of law future
