I just got a call from my broker informing me that the borrowing cost for ANY shorts is 34%. The stock is at a 52 week low and none of these fellows is covering? I have never seen this in all my days and with new issuance it is befuddling. All I can guess is that there is no stock for loan and the naked shorts must be massive. It is all well and good to be short but if you can't buy real shares you could be in massive jeopardy. I wonder if all the volume is just shorts and wise guys selling to eachother, and I am not an expert on Canadian short selling regulations but I have never seen a stock trade like this one.
