>I use Bovine thrombin by injecting it into patients to ablate pseudoaneurysms after cardiac catheterisations and control bleeding if a lot of blood is coming out my coaxial needle during biopsies. A vial costs less that 10 bucks. It is used also in the OR. I am not sure what the market is for this and at what price? Am I missing something?<

Bovine products can transmit mad cow disease, among other things. Hence, such products are not really safer than products derived from human plasma. Moreover, bovine products can cause severe allergies in certain recipients.

In the thrombin market, specifically, the competitor of consequence for OMRI (which uses a human plasma source) is not KG (which uses a bovine source); rather, it is the planned recombinant product from ZGEN.
