NVS: I would tend to agree with you as VRTX appears to be in the front seat. Perhaps NVS did the best they could under circumstances which we are not privy to. Sure seems like a crap shoot via multiple collaborations...
On the other hand, hundreds of companies have multiples of collaborations with hundreds of other companies. We tend to only see those of them that are staring us in the face.
MEDX has many; I'm sure every MEDX shareholder "expects" all of them to bear fruit...foolishly.
