As Islamic State fighters approached Palmyra in May, a group of local men teamed up to smuggle 400 antiquities out of the Greco-Roman World Heritage Site - all while under heavy gunfire.

BBC Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen spoke to two of Syria's "Monuments Men" - a nod to the Hollywood blockbuster in which a group of soldiers fight to save European artworks from the advance of Nazi Germany.

No .. that's not to diminish the tragic loss of ancient treasures which Daesh have
destroyed in Iraq and Syria, but it does cast a shadow on your position as stated by you.
