Mr. Sharma has an extensive background in telecom switching with converged applications: Wireless access using 2G GSM, 3G UMTS networks, Wireline access with ISDN, V5.2, GR-303, and VoIP access with WiFi, DSL and Packetcable networks. He was the Manager of Networks Engineering at Bell Canada in the '80s, and then worked for Bell-Northern Research - Nortel with the DMS-100 telephone switch.

As Director - Telecom Applications at Telelogic, Sharma managed the team that built and sold GSM, ATM, 802.11, DECT applications and protocol stacks, and worked on protocol standards, in the early to late '90s. Sharma directed product strategies at early VoIP leaders: TollBridge, Convergent Networks, and at CopperCom, where he defined their VoIP product offerings resulting in over 100 Softswitch deployments.

At Siemens, Sharma was instrumental in putting together the 3G UMTS, 3GPP IMS solution for Cingular, a joint venture between SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE: SBC) and BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS) and was awarded an "Outstanding Contribution Award" at Siemens for work on Alcatel's Spatial Softswitch.

Sharma defined the Cisco GGSN switch network deal at Cingular, as the Siemens Chief Architect for the Core UMTS 3G rollout.

Sharma also worked as Chief Architect Mobile Enterprise Solutions combining Enterprise VoIP solutions, 3GPP IMS solutions, and has contributed to standards with GSM Americas, ETSI and has held a visiting advisor position at Telcordia.
