A rotary engine is not the same as the CSRV. A rotary engine is more akin to a phased combustion radial flow turbine engine acting on a rotor, without a separate compressor section, as opposed to continuous combustion acting on a turbine wheel. The CSRV is essentially a rotating ball valve replacing the cam, lifter, poppet valve arrangement of a piston engine.
