Lumping in CSRV technology with rotary engines is apples and oranges. Unrelated.
Saying that people are reluctant because of rotary engines (history) is just not accurate. Did I misunderstand you?

CSRV technology is a potential upgrade/retrofit TO existing long-proven bottom-end technologies.
It can be better compared to forced induction, and the impact forced induction had on engines (gas and diesel) the past three decades.
With minor modifications (reduced compression, turbo exhaust manifolds etc) many engine designs could be upgraded.
More recently, there has been a surge in great NA engines (namely Honda, K-series) that produce excellent power.

CSRV technology has been in serious development by Coates now for20+ years, and getting attention from some major markets. That time investment (and money investment) has not gone unnoticed. The un-complicated design takes the simplicity of the NA engine to a brilliant new level. CSRV achieves the performance gains from increased RPMS and compression. That is a major leap forward. Everybody wants that.
Even if companies jump on board solely for the reduced emissions (and China is blatantly focussing on increasing efficiency/emissions in their entire shipping industry) it is another big want.

I predict that within the year we will see several trial units purchased/shipped to varying markets, and with successful short-term wear results, Cummins will be in up to their elbows, both in the States and in China. Cummins got to where it is by taking calculated risks, quietly, and beating "bigger" companies to the punch.
