Don't take this as refuting the article, It could all be true. However, I know of very few past CEOs who couldn't be written about by extreme views on both sides.

I do remember that at the time of the controversy over the Compaq acquisition, Walter Hewett wanted to focus on the printer business, whereas the article infers to me that he was supporting the service business. He wanted to sell ink.
