Illegal in most states, actually. Even to record an employee for training purposes is illegal unless they waiver. It has to be disclosed, agreed to, and even if the party agrees you have to stop recording if the conversation in any way starts to include personal information. Given the nature if this as a personal investment, it's already in grey territory. I'd stay away from that.
