Top O' the MUMs the Word Monday Peregrine!!!!!!!!

Yup....Peregrine will not release anything today, in case you were wondering.

Science question I've been pondering........

I always see "signaling pathway" when reading about immunotherapy....

I've always envisioned PS Targeting and the APP as changing the signal one cell at a time...ie an individual cell signal. Pondering the "signaling pathway" angle...is the exposed PS more than just a single cell signal? Does exposed phosphatidlyserine on one cell have a signaling effect on it's neighbor without exposed PS? Hard to put in words but I am thinking of PS as a stone tossed into a lake....the ripples(energy) that the rock caused eventually reach the shore, even though the rock never touched the shore. Do healthy, non-apoptotic cells recognize exposed PS on it's neighbor and pass along the "eat-me" message, cell to cell until it reaches a nearby macrophage, dendritic and other immmune cells?

The question... Is the PS "eat me"signal passed along and through the microenvironment through other processes/molecules/signals associated with the immune system?

I understand the "other" checkpoint inhibitors but I mean the specific PS signal being "translated" and passed along through the inter-cellular pathway....ie...from an apoptotic cell along a number of healthy cells...until a macrophage or other cell gets the message to mobilize in their amoebic manner to engulf the dead/dying/cancerous cell.
NOW.....does that path act as a "track" for the macrophage to follow to the bad cell? The macrophage doesn't have GPS(as far as I know) to find the bad cell so it must be guided somehow....right? If so...what is the track they follow?

I hope this makes hypothetical sense.

A note on Dr Jeff Hutchins.....a brilliant mind and a really cool guy from AACR...Stephen Worsley as well...

Let's hope they are as on top of their game as I perceived....Hutchins being chairman(as well his other achievments) gives him the "on your game check"! Hutchins, what gives you the "on your game" check? Show us the money!

Enjoy the Day!
