OT: You need to look at the comparative advantage of the US and ask yourself if it is sustainable. Right now, we have some of the best institutions of higher education in the world, but the gap is narrowing all the time and the actual gap may even be smaller than perceived. E.G. is a Ph.D. from one of the IIT's really of a lower caliber than one from MIT? Don't forget that some of those Indian universities have acceptance rates of less than 1%, while MIT accepts at least 10-15% of its applicants. If I had a choice between the two, I'm not sure I'd go with the MIT person every time.

Other than our educational superiority, which really only exists at the highest levels, if at all, are there other sustainable competitive advantages to being located in the US?

The Indians I've spoken with on this topic say that, yes, they will 'put up' with being managed from afar by Americans for the next decade to decade and a half, but after that, they fully expect to completely displace their American overseers. Barring disaster w/Pakistan, nationalist government retrogression, and other potential monkey wrenches.
