Being a gold bear does not make you ar anybody else arrogant. But saying that gold weill NEVER again play a major monetary role is certainly arrogant. Just as I would be arrogant if I said it certainly WILL play such a role.
Saying you don't think gold should ever play such a role is fine. But making an unequivocal prediction that it will NEVER again have a major monetary role is something else entirely.
BTW one can look at gold in a very different way. The value of gold as percent of the value of the global money supply is barely off all time lows. HUGE upward potential if you are wrong about gold's future monetary role. Certainly much more potential upside than downside risk.
