I don't think any of it works if you don't have a senior listing.

All those stocks had senior listings. It doesn't work!
People will sell the stock because you are sending the wrong message ("We are not a growth company"). People sell the stock after they collect the dividend. Savagely.

They don't want to hold on to a risky (Chinese) asset in the first place, so why would they want to hold on to one that doesn't grow...?

Aha.... so it's about growth then, you will ask me? That is correct.
