Not retail shorted they aren't. That is rare. If you are referring to MM shorting for the purposes of making a market...that is entirely different and has little to no impact on short interest in a stock. But it does provide a convenient boogie man for those trying to push the idea that the reason their stock is tanking is because of shorting.
