hSA is on the back burner for the time being while GTC presses forward with the phase-3 ATryn study in the U.S., which will be a demanding endeavor in terms of resource allocation.
I’m not sure I would describe hSA as a “blockbuster” because an excipient generates much less economic value per dosing unit than an active ingredient. Still, I think hSA has a lot of upside for GTC because albumin is an excellent protein stabilizer and the current sources of albumin—whether human or bovine—are risky.
