Why? A recession is a normal part of the expansion and contraction cycle. A recession would have been healthy but they were all afraid it would flip from a recession to a depression so they pumped the system with a massive amount of dollars.
This business of constantly printing dollars to stimulate the economy has just created one bubble after another and we all know how bubbles end. I think I would have preffered a recession.
