Great post nicmar... I had wanted to reply sooner, but I have so many thoughts I don't know exactly what to say.
You are right in that our armed force are cutting back and are becoming very particular in choosing their officers, and the ones they do award these lucrative scholarships are definitely top notch. The price these kids pay for this is that they must have perfect behavior.... one screw up like a dwi or a fight and they are out... zero tolerance.
The other thing... he no longer belongs to his mother and I, he belongs to the USAF. After a year or so in Seattle at he U of W as a Gold Bar recruiter (1 of only 20 chosen nationwide)... he will be stationed at an Air Base in N Japan... Mikawa? I guess that is why they sent him to Korean language school the last two summers.
Meanwhile, our daughter and her husband have both taken positions at Colleges in or near Boston, she as a Mathematics Professor and he as the Media Relations Director.
Talk about an empty nest... that is just about as far away from Texas as you can get, LOL!
