Debbie Stabenow is also working hard on this issue(I signed her petition):

Dear Xxx,

We live in a global marketplace, and I know that workers and businesses in Michigan can compete with anyone when the playing field is level. But we need to decide if America is going to lead a race to the top, or if we’re going to race to the bottom in our standard of living.

Time and time again, so-called “fast track authority” has been used to negotiate bad trade deals that drive down wages, ship jobs overseas, and allow other countries to cheat on currency, labor, and environmental standards.

A bill is moving through Congress right now to once again put trade deals on the fast track while leaving working families holding the bag.

Our Michigan automotive companies, workers, and others have all raised alarms about this bill. It opens up special trade deals for countries without doing anything to stop the practice of currency manipulation that Japan and others routinely use to unfairly compete against our workers.

When countries like Japan manipulate their currency, they can sell cars and trucks all across the globe at a steep discount compared to American automobiles. This practice, which has cost us millions of jobs, is allowed to continue under the trade bill before Congress right now.

Now is the time for you to raise your voice and tell Congress: Say “no” to more bad trade deals that cost American jobs!

If Congress is going to fast-track anything, it should be legislation to strengthen the middle class. We could be fast-tracking an increase in the minimum wage. We could be fast-tracking millions of jobs rebuilding our infrastructure. We could be fast-tracking equal pay for equal work. We could be fast-tracking my Bring Jobs Home Act to close loopholes that encourage companies to ship our jobs overseas.

Join me today – tell Congress to oppose any “fast track” bill that allows other countries to cheat on trade deals.

Thank you for standing up for Michigan jobs and Michigan families.

Sincerely,

Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator

Dear Friend,

This afternoon, I voted against the latest fast track deal in Congress that would smooth the way for yet another bad trade deal at the expense of American workers.

Instead of fast-tracking trade deals, we should be fast-tracking the middle-class!

We should create millions of jobs rebuilding our roads and bridges. We should invest in our schools and access to college. We should give hardworking folks a living wage.

Instead Congress is trying to fast track the TPP trade deal that would reward countries like Japan who manipulate their currencies – at the expense of American jobs.

To be extremely clear: when other countries cheat on their currency, it hurts American businesses and costs American workers their jobs.

Click here to sign the petition. Tell Congress: Don’t fast track another bad trade deal. Fast track the middle-class!

I hope you’ll join me in this fight.
