I think Intel's HyperThreading technology is benefiting Apple and AMD as well. Intel is simply encouraging software makers to change single-threaded apps into multithreaded. Good.

The coming Apple with dual-G5 2 Ghz and very possible dual-A64 2 Ghz will definitely substantially outperform the 3.2 Ghz single-cpu P4.

Look at the Apple stock. They are at the Nov 2000 level now, dispite a 3-year long bear market. One of the biggest P4 drawbacks is the impossibility to fit two of them on the mini-atx consumer board. Apple is hitting this drawback pretty hard - AMD just need to catch the wave. As Rioworks proved just a regular AMD 8111/8151 chipset does the job.

Otherwise they are just heading straight into the wall.
