This is horrible advice IMO. You don't hold an instrument that is designed to deteriorate for "months". Trust me, I know from experience. I lost high in the high 5 figures on this recently for thinking that very thing.
If market does not give you the opportunity to get out within a day or two with a spike...cut your losses and get out...then look for an opportunity to swing trade to make it back. This is meant as a short term hedge only, not a long-term hold. JMHO.
