International Drug Detection Firm IDenta to Introduce Ketamine Drug Detector
Tuesday May 23, 8:33 am ET
JERUSALEM, May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IDenta Corp. (OTC Pink Sheets: IDTA - News) announced today it is in the final stages of introducing a new drug detection product that will identify the presence of Ketamine, a substance generally identified as a date rape drug. The new product is the first of several new products that IDenta is expected to introduce in the coming months.
"The Ketamine identifier is a product with broad applications in the civilian and consumer marketplaces, as well as with law enforcement agencies," reported IDenta CEO Yaacov Shoham. The date rape problem gained national attention in October of 1996 when Congress passed the Drug-Induced Rape Prevention and Punishment Act of 1996.
The act amended the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) to impose penalties of up to 20 years' imprisonment and a fine for violating CSA provisions by distributing a controlled substance to an individual without that individual's knowledge, with intent to commit a crime of violence (including rape) against that individual.
The new product will be made available in both the company's Stinger product line for professional use, as well as the Confirm product line for civilian and consumer use.
About Ketamine
Also known as Special K, Ketamine belongs to a class of drugs called "dissociative anesthetics," which separate perception from sensation. Ketamine usually comes as a liquid in small pharmaceutical bottles, and is most often cooked into a white powder for snorting. While low doses of Ketamine can increase heart-rate, at higher doses it depresses consciousness and breathing and is extremely dangerous to combine with depressents such as alcohol, Valium or GHB.
Ketamine can cause a tremendous psychological dependence. Frequent use can cause disruptions in consciousness and lead to neuroses or other mental disorders. The dissociation from one's consciousness experienced with ketamine can be highly seductive to some people, and there are many cases of ketamine addiction.
