Congrats to AMD for aiming to beat Presler in everything, including power.
Maybe they should have called it the Charity Edition, i.e. donate $1200 to help keep profits up until K8L ;).
Because I can't think of another reason to buy it. The $300 Conroe will match it in some cases, the $500 one in almost everything, and the Extreme will simply destroy it.
Even if you for some reason refuse to buy Intel you can bet that prices of FX will be coming down hard and soon, at least if AMD thinks it can satisfy the consequent increase in demand for high clock parts. My bet is that the holiday season will look very blue this year.
