I recall a small biotech some years back that claimed to be developing a "better amiodarone." Don't recall the name or what happened to the program, but they had some data that seemed intriguing at the time.

Pulmonary fibrosis was also the cause of my friend's mother's demise. Her doctors thought she had pneumonia. Incidence seems dose-dependent and is lower than it used to be because lower doses are now more common.
