Yes, less shares mean a higher share price but everything will happen in a pro-rata sense that will leave you equally well off in $ terms. If it would be any other way, all companies would constantly try tweaking their shares outstanding.
For your info, I hold an MBA in Finance and I am a CPA. That doesn't make my version of things any more valid than yours, but I have some applicable background from which I draw my conclusions.
