It doesn't really matter how excited or certain anyone is about this ERHC block. Everyone is excited about every well that gets drilled or they would not be drilling it. That does not change the fact that the odds of a successful well on this first attempt will be 25% or less. This "can't miss" thinking flies in the face of everything that is known about oil and gas exploration. All prospects everywhere are thoroughly tested and painstakingly selected. Many are drilled by companies that are FAR more experienced than CEPSA or ERHC. And their odds aren't any better. Maybe ERHC will hit on their first well in this basin. I hope so. But, honestly, the odds are against it.
