Frankly, both have a lot at stake. The scientists have no income if they don't have a crisis to study. Politicians..... well they are politicians and they thrive on crisis more so than the truth.

Maybe we can agree to disagree on some of this?

Those that always have the answer have serious insecurity issues and must be validated by others to feel self worth.
