Russia's agenda if you look at the pipelines is to regain some control.

Keyword is 'some'. The Russians have every right to get their oil to market. I have previously posted Russia should not control the flow of all Caspian oil. We however have been attempting to stop the Russians from getting their own oil and gas out of Russia. Putin was elected to take care of his people including many Jews that apparently do not consider him a monster and are returning to Russia. The Ukrainian takeover was one example as was Turkey’s sudden environmental concern with the Bosphorus straits.

The strategic significance of Ukraine.
Eighty percent of Russian gas and oil exports to Europe—its most important source of foreign exchange—flows through Ukrainian pipelines which is why Bush set out to take possession of Ukraine.

Finally, the Turkish government cynically announced that they had "discovered" major environmental problems with letting huge oil tankers pass through the Bosphorus straits--the mouth of the Black Sea which they control. In other words, Turkey is threatening to stop oil-tankers from Novorossisk, which quickly made investors wary of building a pipeline that ended in Novorossisk.
