House Republicans vote to tell Obama they're really, really mad at him about immigration

House Republicans have decided to let tea party super genius Rep. Ted Yoho speak for them on President Obama's executive action on immigration. They've passed his bill to rebuke the president, 219-197, even though they happily acknowledge it's a purely symbolic act.

"I think that a Hallmark card would be cheaper. Send the president a Hallmark card saying we don't like your immigration ideas," said Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.). "I don't think it accomplishes anything, but I'm going to support it." […]

"It's hard for me with every major figure in our party starting with Reince Priebus down to the lowliest of members like myself having said, 'We're going to do everything we can to stop this.' And then to do nothing to stop it, really hurts," said Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.).

Mulvaney plans to vote for Yoho's bill, however.

This farce is all part of House Speaker John Boehner's plan to hold his conference together and fight off de facto House Speaker, Sen. Ted Cruz, who's doing his damnedest to get the House to shutdown government, again, over immigration.

So while Boehner might have gotten all the votes he needs to tell Obama they think he's a bad man, that doesn't mean he's going to be able to corral them for the budget vote.
