We disagree. The government has been systematically altering the methodologies and inputs that generate the official CPI number over the past 35 years. If one uses the official methodologies and inputs from 1990, our current CPI would be just under 6% and if one were to use the official methodologies and inputs from 1980, the current CPI would be around 10%.

Just because the "official data" doesn't show inflation, it doesn't mean it's not there. The government has a vested interested in manipulating the number. Just look at inflation in the high end art and real estate markets (as an example, the price of a good steak in my favorite steak house has gone from $40 to $85 in the past four years - when I asked the owner about it, he pointed to beef prices) and in restaurants where the prices have stayed the same, the portions have been significantly reduced.

Money printing has papered over the weak economic activities of the world and buying power has been destroyed for the lower and middle class by this "non-existent" inflation (Arab Spring, food riots of 2012, occupy wall-street, etc) were all results of people unable to afford the basics.

It is in the government's best interest to inflate their way out of its debts and inability to curb spending. When one can use a real dollar today and pay it back with a peso dollar tomorrow, who wouldn't do that.

I just hope CTIX has changed the world for shareholders and the sick by the time all this hits the fan. The system works as long as people believe it works, but in all of human history a monetary system based on paper money has never ended well.

Rant done.

Back to CTIX, I expect it to start to move tomorrow or Friday in anticipation of news on Monday. It should be a great few weeks leading into the holidays.
