Train Guy - Your post made me recall one summer vacation in a little town in the mountains in central Mexico. Every day a crew of 80 workers with picks worked sunup til sundown to dig a new sewer line for a block on the cobblestone streets. A friend asked why they didn't just use a backhoe and knock the job out in a day. Upon reflection, it became apparent that it was preferential to have the 80 workers employed all day every day for a week.
