I am a bit familiar with Metzger, mostly from reading about what he has written rather than reading his actual works. He is frequently cited in Bibliotheca Sacra, the journal of theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and a similar quarterly theological journal from the Masters Seminary -- both excellent publications to which I subscribe.

He loses me when he endorses "gender neutral" translations -- both the Greek and the Hebrew have genders as part of the language and it should not be changed just to be politically correct.
